OUR STORY
Our History
Greater Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church began several years after the Civil War, when a small group of faithful believers gathered in their homes as Little Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church. As the congregation grew, God continued to provide new places to worship, eventually leading the church to its home on Trimble Street in 1951.
In 1993, Rev. Harold W. Finch, Sr. was called to serve as pastor and later led the church in becoming Greater Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Through the years, GMZ has expanded its ministries, outreach, and service to the Nashville community. Even after the devastating flood of 2010, the congregation persevered, restored its church home, and continued its mission of “Building Families for the Work of the Lord.”
